More low-level snow fell in the Western Cape and Northern Cape overnight, as per our forecast.

The first report of ground level snow came from Matroosberg Reserve outside Ceres in the Western Cape around 3am in the morning and there was a good layer on the Bo-Swaarmoed Pass by the morning.

It was snowing heavily in Sutherland in the Northern Cape by 9am in the morning. By the afternoon low-level snow had fallen in the Koue Bokkeveld, Beaufort West, Laingsburg, outside Graaff-Reinet and by the evening snow had fallen in Elliot in the Eastern Cape and Kokstad in KwaZulu-Natal.

Low-level snow is reachable by ordinary vehicles in the Cederberg, Koue Bokkeveld, the high ground around Ceres, De Doorns, Montagu and snow is visible on the mountains around Swellendam, Greyton, Barrydale and George in the Western Cape.

On Tuesday morning the Drakensberg had a layer of snow, which was visible from places like Underberg, Himeville, Champagne Valley.

While the excitement level is usually very high after these low-level snowfalls, snow chasers are reminded to respect private property and not climb over farm fences and gates.
