Visible Snow Map 6th July 2018

Still want to see snow this weekend? We have been getting a lot of requests asking where the snow is, so here is a visual update. It is also important that you read the information below relating to the visible snow map. The white patches on the map indicate visible now. We must stress that just because it is visible, it does not mean that it is easily reachable. The only snow that is easily reachable at the moment is in the Bo-Swaarmoed area and Matroosberg outside Ceres, but even here, we are seeing a very quick melt this morning, and it is unlikely to last much longer. It is very patchy, and a little bit better in shaded areas. The snow high up at Matroosberg is still thick and quite impressive, but you will need a low range 4×4 to get to the top of the mountain. The snow on the Cederberg is all high up in the mountains, and will involve a good hike to get into the snow. The snow in the Northern Cape is also melting very quickly, and is very patchy. The visible snow on the Swartberge (near Oudtshoorn) is now extremely thin and experiencing very quick melt, and once again is high up on the mounatins, and is unlikely to be there much longer. The snow at AfriSki in Lesotho is manufactured snow, as is the snow at Tiffindell in the Eastern Cape. We are not expecting any further snowfalls this weekend and into the early part of next week. We will issue a forecast as soon as we see snow on the way again.
