  • SNOW FORECAST:
  • Light snow possible on the peaks in eastern Lesotho on Saturday afternoon/night (22nd September).

Updated Snow Forecast : Eastern Cape & Lesotho : 2-3 September 2018

There is a chance of the lightest dusting of snow over the high peaks of the Hex River Mountains between de Doorns and Ceres in the Western Cape, as well as in the Cederberg today. No low level snow is expected and the quantity is so small it’s unlikely to settle on the ground.

Tonight we are expecting snow in the Eastern Cape Drakensberg and in Lesotho. Our previous forecast indicated that falls would be below 5cm, but over the last 48 hours we have seen an increase in the possible snow depths, and now the areas marked in orange on our map could receive up to 10cm at the higher altitudes.

Next week’s data is still very volatile, but we are seeing a cold front making landfall in the Western Cape late on Tuesday night, and more snow is possibly going to fall in the Western Cape, Northern Cape, Eastern Cape and Lesotho between Wednesday and Saturday as well. Due to the volatility of the data at this stage, we will probably only put out a forecast for this event tomorrow.
