  • FORECAST:
  • Light flurries possible over high peaks of Western Cape and isolated spots of N Cape, starting 25th Sept, Monday afternoon

Updated Forecast: Snow Due From Today

The frontal system is well on its way and due to bring the snow from later this morning. We are not seeing any snow for the WC, and snow falls in the EC look like they will be confined to the EC Drakensberg and surrounding areas at this stage, unfortunately it no longer appears as if Hogsback will receive any snow. Later this morning we will see the first snow falls over the EC Drakensberg, extending into Lesotho and the KZN Drakensberg by this afternoon.

These falls will continue into the evening and through the night on Friday, and some falls could start appearing on the foothills and in towns close to the KZN Drakensberg (eg Underberg). Snowfalls in the KZN Midlands are looking unlikely at this stage although we are seeing light flurries possible in in certain places such as Matatiele, Kokstad. Snowfalls over the EC Drakensberg, the KZN Drakensberg and Lesotho are likely to continue into Sunday evening and Monday morning at this stage, and some heavy falls can be expected on the top of the Drakensberg.

Please send us all your snow photos and remember to stay safe and warm this weekend! ❄️⛄
