Snow Forecast (advanced) : 16 – 18th September 2016

We are starting to see some consistency in the next cold front that is approaching the WC, due to make landfall late on Thursday night or early on Friday morning. Whilst there is still a lot of time between now and then, and things might change, this is what we are seeing at the moment….. widespread snow on all mountain ranges from the Cederberg right down to Franschhoek by Friday at sunrise (WC). More light snow expected through Friday over these areas, and maybe further east over the Groot Swartberge by afternoon, continuing over these areas until Saturday morning. Saturday afternoon could see snow on the KZN Drakensberg and eastern Lesotho, with falls intensifying in the late afternoon with a couple of flurries possible in the EC highlands around Rhodes, and possibly in the Kokstad and Matatiele areas too, continuing on and off through the night and into Sunday morning. As mentioned above, this is a very advanced forecast, and is likely to change, but we are starting to see consistency in the system. We will update daily from now as the system approaches. story-18575-18575-xlarge
