You are really asking for Photos, ... LOL 🤔😏 You sound Desperate 😏😊

Did it snow as since the weekend it seems to be much cooler in many places. Now snowfalls have been confirmed. We all want to know why it is SO cold then if there is no snow?

Not uncommon to see snow in October or even in November.

Snow Report SA

We're seeing a possibility of very light dustings of snow on the highest peaks of the northern, central and southern Drakensberg and eastern Lesotho from tomorrow afternoon. No snow is expected to fall at lower levels and the chances of the snow melting right away are high. If there is any change in the data later tonight to indicate more significant snow or lower-level snow we will publish a map. If you manage to take any photos of the snow tomorrow morning before it melts please send them to us ASAP. The most likely place to see snow from would be inside Lesotho, via Sani Pass. ... Snow Report SA

Ian Hendry, Adrian Geekie, David Laithwaite and Roy Arouca tackled a snowy run at the Sentinel Peak in the Northern Drakensberg on Sat 13 October and sent us these photos. They were hiking at over 3000m at one point and conditions got very serious with extreme cold and horizontal snow, and they had to cut the run short because one of the party was suffering too much in the cold.

It was an epic adventure in the end but highlighted how serious things can get when there’s a snowstorm in the mountains and how important the right clothing is for this kind of adventure. Take note that they are experienced hikers though and sometimes failing to complete your expedition is how the adventure goes. Thanks for the photos and the story guys!

A question for a dedicated snow-followers: How do you feel about the hail posts in between the snow posts? We are hoping your interest in weather extends beyond just snow, but we don't want to spam you, so please help us by giving us feedback. ... See MoreSee Less

Comment on Facebook

Feel free to add comments on this poll if you want to.

Maybe start a hail site and combine it with a rain storm site.......but don't mix it with snow as the whole essence of Snow Report will be lost!!!!

Your page is really only a Winter page, and only when snow is coming, so I think it is great to get other extreme weather posts as they won't happen that often. It's not like we see extreme weather every day. I think it's great to see the extra weather stuff. Your page is awesome.

As you said in the previous post "hail is snow's cousin". So let's keep it all in the family. Hail and snow... Same WhatsApp group

Show the hail - it's important to see extreme weather. I now live in the UK, and have been watching hurricanes in the USA, floods in Wales, Spain and Portugal, and hail in SA. It's one world, we are all affected by extreme weather.

I think it's a fantastic idea to include heavy hail falls on your page. Otherwise there is nothing else to post. Any other extreme weather will also be interesting.

Absolutely love the snow report but I welcome any other weather reporting too. Thank you to the team for the great job you do out there!

Anything to do with unusual or extreme weather is interesting.

Keep posting any extreme weather, it is good to stay informed

I think it is great when you share other weather phenomena and good rain as well!

It is white frozen stuff from the sky. It's all good.

Hail warnings in the forecast would also be 👍👍

It's not as if we get hail posts on here regularly, so seeing hail so thick, almost like snow, is great.

Ek sou sê dis n goeie idee om foto's van hael ook op te sit. Want hael kom meestal in tye voor wanneer daar nie sneeu is nie. En sodoende bly jul webwerf aan die gang.

Feel free loved to see hail anything all to do with weather

Is'nt hail just frozen snow??? ie they are related .....

You’ll have to change your name if you show other weather extremes...just saying 🤣

To me hail is more important as I had 3 cars damaged with hail in one night !

Avid follower of Snow Report SA and LOVE the hail reports and pics <3 Keep them coming please 🙏😍

If you want to include tornado's and hurricanes, why not?

Nice to have a summer snow report

Extreme weather is rad

Extreme weather posts welcome!

As extreme as possible. Yes!

And rain !

As you can see, there is still plenty of snow on the mountains at Afriski Mountain Resort in Lesotho. The roads are open to all vehicles so if you'd like to get to some snow, best you get into your vehicle and drive there ASAP. AfriSki is 2 hours from Clarens in the Free State, and on your way back, check out a few places you can visit at mydorpie.com/clarens BUT make sure you bring your passports, and if you have kids you'll need unabridged birth certificates for them too (VERY important) ...
